NOTE! Thomas Henderson was the first Clerk of Court in Guilford County; then became the first Clerk of Court of Rockingham County when it wass formed from Guilford 29 Dec. 1785, with the first Court held in Feb. of 1786 in the home of Adam Tate.

Some records show Joseph Tate's sons Joseph and John had died before 1785 (apparently inestate and without issue), perhaps one can theorize that the estate was not settled in 1785 and that Thomas Henderson brought the will to Rockingham County. Mo st of the land involved is in Rockingham County, some being in Stokes County which had not been formed from Surry when the will was written.
