Richard L. "Red" Sinor, 67, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
Private graveside services will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, where the Rev. Shelley Aakre will officiate. There will be no visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
Mr. Sinor was born May 5, 1937, in Bonham, Texas, the son of Leo and Luella (Norris) Sinor. He grew up in north Texas and attended Bonham Elementary and High Schools. He studied law enforcement at Grayson College in Sherman, Texas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy for one term.
He married Bonnie N. Hall on Sept. 17, 1976, in Ardmore, Okla. He worked for the police force in Denison, Texas for three years. He also was employed in the auto salvage business, as a convenience store manager and as a delivery tech until he retired due to blindness in 1989.
He enjoyed fishing, bingo, family card games and playing the slot machines. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge in Texas.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie of Sioux City; his mother, Luella Sinor of Denison, Texas; seven stepchildren and their spouses, James and Jackie of Temple, Texas, Ronda and Robert of Sioux City, Teresa and Larry of North Sioux City, Kenneth and Pam of Tulsa, Okla., Sharron and Joe of Ector, Texas, David and June of Fort Smith, Ark., and Debbie and Barry of Odessa, Texas; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Donald and Mike, both of Texas; and a sister, Brenda of Texas.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo Sinor.
Pallbearers will be Robert Rice, Clay Gosch, Larry Neal, James Billingsley and Rick Thompson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland.
