I would have been 9 years old. I also remember spending some time with Aunt Mary and Uncle John on the farm, in what seemed to me at the time, the 'deep woods'. I have a very vivid recollection of the rain one night as it fell on the small home's tin roof. It was so very soothing. John became ill with blood poisoning and died. I also remember going over to visit and all our family going over to Evansville, Indiana to the zoo. It was a rainy day and the radio announcers were talking about the death of Hank Williams, Sr. who had died in January of 1953. They were playing Williams' songs. I cannot remember why?
